bliss: the ward's.

Oh man. These people. This day. The day Garret and Anna became the Wards was blissful, energetic, joyful, lovely, happy, and literally every other good word you can think of. I remember asking Anna and Garret about their story. My favorite thing I’ve probably ever heard was after their first date Anna went home to her roommates and told them, “It was an awesome and dreamy first date, but also I would just love to pick up trash with him.” Isn’t that the kind of love we all wish we could have? One where we are just happy to be in each other’s presence and it doesn’t matter what you’re doing?

Texas in September feels like Texas in July honestly, but that didn’t stop the people coming out in droves ready to party and celebrate this union. Where wedding days are supposed to be about the bride and groom, all they wanted was for it to be about the people that made them into who they are and the Lord that loved them enough to bring them to each other.

Garret is loyal, steadfast, and a genuine companion to the people in his presence. He is Anna’s rock — he makes her steady and helps carry her through the uncertainty. Anna is one of the most joyful people I know. I mean seriously, her laugh is infectious and her love runs deep. She embraces the moments that she walks through, chooses to remember them fully, and lets those memories build more of her character. These two are rock stars that deserve all the spotlights.

One of my favorite things about photographing weddings is getting to be the outsider looking in. I get to stand to the side and not only watch two people fall deeper in love, but watch those around them stand tall in support. One of my favorite memories of the day was watching Garret and Anna hold each other during their reception. While everyone around them was going all out as Katy Perry sang about being a firework, they just swayed back and forth, happy to be in each other’s arms for the rest of their lives. I loved this day so much that it genuinely makes me want to combust!

Garret and Anna, I’m not sure if you have a president of your fan club, but if you don’t I’m happy to throw my name into the ring!
